I took a break from running and good nutrition on Christmas. I think I would have done better if I'd kept with my regular plan rather than monkey with it like I did. Hope you all had a wonderful christmas and are looking forward to a Happy New Year!

Wow that was quite the break....next time I will maintain my regular running schedule.

Back to the two lane black top....4 easy miles today. Now it's but 39 days till showtime at the Surf City USA marathon. So neat that I've had enough time between my last marathon and my next that I'm actually getting in some "real" training............

Finally got out the door for a 6 miler in rather comfortable weather conditions! It was about 47 degrees under partly cloudy skies. No wind, rain or snow to contend with. This was more like a Tempo run where my over all average was at about 10 minute miles with my faster miles at 7.34 min miles......Oh well, the training and recovery is coming together well and I will be ready to do the Surf City Marathon in 37 days........wahooooo!

It was probably 49 degrees this fine day in Sandy Utah. It rained last night so the cool two lane black top was dust free under cloudy skies. Again, no wind, it didn't rain or snow on me and it made for another great Tempo/recovery run with just 37 days before The Surf City USA Marathon..........Overall average: 10.1 min. miles, fastest: 6.19 min. mile. Life is feelin' and lookin' good!!!

Went out for a 3.5 easy shakedown cruse for the "Beat the New Years Clock 5k". It's New Years Eve at Sugarhouse Park. Usually starts at 11:30p... Can you believe it, it got up to 61 degrees today. Man it was fun running in a tank and shorts without freezing!

36 days till SC-USA-Marathon

Hey everybody.....I just wanted to get on the blog and wish everybody a very Happy New Year! As for me, tonight, I'm going to the Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City and doing my favorite new years eve activity....."Run"   the    Beat the New Years Clock 5K with friends and family! If theres anything blog worthy I will chime in tomorrow with a race report.

I went to this 5k, as usual ,with a very open mind knowing that it's a first of the year tune up fun run. (actually the last of the year)This race is special to me because my "Boys" and "Girls" attend it with me. This years race was rather special because I was able to intoduce another boy into the sport of organized road running! It was the first 5k or run of any kind except for training.

My race strategy was to get out fast and try to continue to gain speed throught the race....The course is a rather hilly thing and they can wind you early in the race. It was about 25 degrees with little or no wind and dry as a bone. It did help that I've trained at the park on this course probably twice a week for the past 5 months and It didn't help because I've already run 10 marathons and several other races this past year coming into this run. I'm a tired, short, fat old man.

Anyway I had a ball out running on New Years Eve, I beat the clock for my 7th time. I got my race shirt and my finisher trophy!!!!! I finished with my best time in 7years with a 21:30. Already can't wait to do it this coming New Years Eve 2012!
