As I left my home this morning for a 6 mile training run, as I hit the two lane black top I quickly decided that I was going to do a difficult hill run instead at a shorter distance of 4.2 miles. This particular hill is my favorite hill to train on, especially getting ready for the Boston Marathon in April. It's my favorite hill to hate. I have a real Love / Hate thing for running the last miles of Wasatch Blvd where it empties out on 17th East and 11400 South.
In the beginning of the run up to 2 miles the elevation goes from 4714 feet to 5114 feet in vertical increase at an average of 7% incline. Thats a 400 foot vertical increase at 7% in 1.5 miles. Then at the 2 mile turn around I run down the same hill. I'm gunna have to go back and review my garmin data about the mole hill at Boston called Heart Break Hill.
30 days till the Surf City USA Marathon......and the marathon is sold out!
