Please excuse this poor race report, I'm tired!  I got up at 1:30 this am and got my tired old man butt to the Ute stadium parking lot by 3:am and totally missed Lark cause I was in plain old street clothing.....ya, like he was supposed to recognize me out of my flag outfit?????? Oh well I caught up with him and Maynard up at the 7400 foot starting line elevation and had a pretty great conversation about what the hell we were doing there. The Race was and is still kind of a blurr to me. I remember that my right foot starting hurting at about mile three and it didnt let up till I got home and had a a good stiff shot or two or three of JD on the rocks. I remember running with Maynard off and on and this Canadian chick from the Marathon Maniacs till about mile 11 or twelve where I had to visit the Green Timple of Doom, don't need to expound on that!
I was sure glad that the sun never got to come out till way after the race. The entire race was cloudy and over cast so we never got cooked out. I "think" it never got over 80 degrees during the race.

I continued to run on down the canyon, never catching the Maynardster or Ms. Sue, the Canadian, she sure was cute, glad she took the time to even talk to me....Oh, well, I slugged it out with my injured foot and managed about a 4:26:22, 5th place in my age division. Not a steller time but it will have to do for a great training run for some of my upcoming marathons. Glad I did it, now its time to get ready for the Provo 1/2 and the Park City full the second and third weekends of next month.....sorry about the crappy report......

Oh Slickster! so sorry about the foot! Did Marcie run it? I didn't see her name! WAY to tough it out! The cloudy sky made it nice but was it muggy though.

GOOD LUCK at Provo 1/2! See you at Park City!

Hey coach, you pulled off another one. Hope the foot pain goes away. I wish I was in some kind of shape so I could try again at Park City with you. Someday I will beat that dang course. In fact, that was my last "attempt" at a marathon. Get that foot healed up.

From Tom Slick on Mon, Jul 25, 2011 at 22:19:53 from 69.171.160.184

Sounds like that was one of your least enjoyable marathons ever. Sorry about the foot pain. It was a fine long run, and you got'er done. Take a few days of rest..your body will thank you. (you don't need me to tell you how to train..you are still THE MASTER!) Congrats!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Tue, Jul 26, 2011 at 11:24:27 from 72.102.176.57

Congrats on another finish! I hope your foot doesn't give you any more trouble in your upcoming races.

From RAD on Sat, Jul 30, 2011 at 16:12:50 from 76.27.16.189

Oh man! I was worrying about your foot and I waited until 4hrs, but never saw you finish and so I had wondered. But, I've been a bad blogger and haven't been on here much so didn't check until just now. I'm sorry it's bugging you so much and I hope things are better now. However, finishing that SO well with such cruddy issues - kudos to you! I will see you in PC! :)
