Well that was a great New Years Eve Run ! As usual the Beat the New Years 5k was just great, well organized and full of fun runners . Beat the New Year 5k celebrated its “40th” year last night. I think I’ve done this fun run at least 10 times and plan on doing it many more times in the future! I finished my run thru the park in 23:01 and beat the start of the New Year. At the finish line we were awarded finisher coffee mugs and cookies. Shortly there after I was awarded $25.00 for best costume, I’m not to sure what the to do was all about, I was just wearing my Red White & Blue Stars Bars Running clothing. The to finish it off we all danced and were all of good cheer as we watched the fireworks and passed into the New Year... Happy New Year to all you crazy runner friends of mine! Oh ya, instead of a T-Shirt this year they presented all runners with a light weight full front zipper hoodie!

How many pairs of those shorts do you have? Or is it just one very durable pair you’ve been wearing all these years?

Congrats on another great race.

Rhett- I’ve actually got 5 different pairs of the stars and bars and another pair from Texas! Thanks for the atta boy. Now it’s about 104 days till Boston ! I don’t need it but I’m going to train to BQ at Boston 2018 for 2019...The holidays are over and it’s time to hit the two lane black top with some new shoes, yea!

Rhett - This news just in...I went back into my running clothing dresser and have found several more stars & bars running shorts with corresponding running shirts...the total is now at 12 pairs! And by the way, I still have my first pair of stars and bars running shorts that I ran in at the 1999 (2nd) St George Marathon.

Rats. I was going to get there this year, but I was going to bike it due to a small injury. Sounds like a good time missed. Kudos. Happy new year to ya.

By the way, your title is great, but I think you left out an A in PREP(A)RATION
