GOALS.....My goal is to be an Age Division Winner and a Boston Marathon Qualifer & Participant as long as I can run this short, fat, tired old man body down the road!!!  This gettin' old crap isn't for the weak of heart, mind, body or spirit!

Maynard -Yes, I'm out trying to get myself ready for the DNews Mary. Hows your training coming along for the DNews? Are you on top of it? Wow, you got in an 18+ miler on the Provo River Trail, good on you! Was this just for fun or was there some sort of organized race thing involved? Good on you anyway!!!! Keep up the great training and remember to keep yourself hydrated...

Hey Tom. I am going to run Des News, but I'm doing it with an old friend from high school who's trying to break 3 hours for the first time at age 45. So I'm going to try and pace him.

He's on the blog at bret.fastrunningblog.com

Don't know how being from Florida, the flattest and most sea-leveliest of states, will help him prepare for this course. He should be prepared for the heat though.

Rob - good luck with your young trainee, going up in elevation is a bitch if you make it clear to him thats what hes doing. Lie to him and tell him nothing unless he absolutely demands it...other than that just keep encourageing him to push the envelope and go for it....good luck, see you at the Des News somewhat later to arrive at the finish line, but I'll get there!
