GOALS.....My goal is to be an Age Division Winner and a Boston Marathon Qualifer & Participant as long as I can run this short, fat, tired old man body down the road!!!  This gettin' old crap isn't for the weak of heart, mind, body or spirit!

The Boston - 2012....

For the 2012 Boston Marathon, qualifying times must be run on or after September 25, 2010. The acceptance of official race entrants will be based on qualifying times, with the fastest qualifiers (in relation to the qualifying time for their age and gender) being accepted first until the race is full. For more information on our revised registration process, visit our registration page. All qualifying times are subject to review and verification.

The qualifying times below are based upon each athlete's age on the date of the Boston Marathon in which they are participating.

For the 2013 Boston Marathon, qualifying times are more stringent, and must be run on or after September 24, 2011. Like the 2012 registration process, the acceptance of official race entrants will be based on qualifying time, with the fastest qualifiers (in relation to their age and gender) being accepted first until the race is full. All qualifying times are subject to review and verification.

*Unlike previous years, an additional 59 seconds will NOT be accepted for each age group time standard.

Entrants in the Push Rim Wheelchair Division, Mobility Impaired Division, and Visually Impaired Division are all subject to qualifying standards for their age and gender. These standards are unchanged from recent years.

The portion of this post that most interests me is the part that says, For the 2012 Boston Marathon, qualifying times must be run on or after September 25, 2010. To me that means that my time at the 2010 St. George Marathon, 3:30:53 is good to get me in the 2012 Boston Marathon and I will be able to sign up in the first round in the fastest old guy group cause I beat my qualifying time by about twenty-nine minutes........

The highlight of the day was running the entire marathon with Ms. Marcie and taking 3rd place in my old man age division!!!!! Not much to say but the Ogden is always a difficult race that many runners under estimate. You can be as well prepared as possible but if you haven't studied the course it can turn on you like a bad dream! Especially the hill at 14 and when you leave the road for the running path! These two areas tend to cause runners to lose concentration and focus.

even though I was up at 5:30 am this morning and felt like I needed to be doing a long run or something I deferred to taking a complete day off from running. I opted for doing the "stick" several times today and just taking it easy. I will follow it up Monday with another rest day and start Tuesday with a three mile starter run. Monday it will be 19 days till the UVM!!!!!!!
